Nitto SP72 Jag post..in BLACK!

So a few weeks ago we received an e-mail asking about a black Nitto SP72 post, and if they were available. Almost immediately I came up with an actual anodized version of the post in black or gold, with the NJS stamp and all. But after doing a little further research, I found out that the post were not an actual release from Nitto, and that the NJS mark was invalid because of the color change.

NJS rules don`t not allow colored or anodized parts to be passed as NJS certified.

But then I was able to source an actual Black anodized Nitto Jaguar SP72 post without the NJS stamp, which means that it`s an actual release from Nitto. So it`s still the same strong and trusted seat post, but in a black anodized finish. The only size available is 27.2, with 44mm rails, and 250mm in length. The value of the post is slightly higher than the standard silver ($165+ shipping), and is available by custom order. So if you`re looking for one of these, shoot over an e-mail and we`ll get you all sorted out.

Tokyo trip / W-Base 7th Year Anniversary Party...pt.1

 

A bike we sent from Osaka, to be displayed at the W-Base anniversary bash in Tokyo. We wondered if it was possible to style a newer aluminium frame with old, vintage style parts.....you can be the judge on whether we pulled it off or not!

The Build......

Campagnolo Lambda rims, Hoshi NJS spokes, Campagnolo Record low flange track hubs.

Suntour polished NJS cranks, Sugino Mighty Compe 58T ring, Hatta R9400 NJS BB.

MKS BM-7 pedals, Cinelli straps, Campagnolo strap end buttons, MKS NJS clips.

Nitto S-84 lugged seat post, Kashimax suede NJS FG-4P saddle.

Nitto Craft stem, vintage Nitto chrome track bar, Yoshida Champ black grips.

 Euro Asia Super Star cog, HKK Silver NJS chain.

I will have plenty more photos, but for now here is Sayaka, with YOPPI and OTAKI san from T19 / Mad Hectic. They are super nice guys, and were very instrumental in pushing fixed gear culture in Japan more than 5 or so years ago. 

 

And here checking out Teppei's Kawasaki cafe racer, on his iphone. Cool bike, Teppei! 

 W-BASE! And Moto San and Yohei San were somehow able to get to the shop by 11am, even though they must have been hungover from the big party the night before. This is always a good spot to be, because you never know who is going to drop in for a visit. This day we happened to bump into a friend of mine from Australia, and also the FTC crew from the Tokyo store, as well as the FISH N CHIPS crew from Fukuoka, and even TEPPEI was there. And of course, the W-Base staff....

 

The Tee19 / EAZE skateboard shop in Tokyo......a good spot to pick up T19 gear, skateboards and parts, as well as clothing, hats, a few bike parts, and books etc...
Shingo runs the shop, and is a famous skater in Japan. He is also a very good host, and was fun to hang out with for the short time we were at the shop. 

Sayaka, Shingo, and Gachan. It is good to see our old friend and customer, Gachan, having a good time now that he has moved to Tokyo. Him and Shingo were reminiscing about the Starks/Mason/Ewing/Oakley era of the NY Knicks. Shingo actually reminds me of John Starks! ha ha...

The T19 / Eaze barbecues!!

 These re-issue Bennett Vector trucks were so cool. I want some! Come to think of it....why didn't I buy them?!

The shop has a cool atmosphere at night....and it is in a good spot, with plenty of space and a grind bench out the front for skating...
This canvas is from MASSAN, and was hiding behind a rare GORILLA x T19 frame.

Tokyo is pretty cold at this time of year, so every now and again, we stopped for some warm air which is blown from these vents from the train subway!

For the first time we got to check out Nicholas' shop! It is called 25LAS. The shops is full of great used keirin/njs stuff, as well as rare Italian vintage parts, many still new in the box. Nicholas is a very cool guy, too!
